The Murmurs are Leisha Hailey and Heather Grody. Actually they were to be exact. They split up in 2005 (after they renamed the band to Gush) and each followed their own way. But I like this song, it's catchy. Notice the matching arm tatoos. Leisha and Heather were probably college lovers.

Now Leisha formed the band Uh Huh Her with Camila Grey. Heather also formed a band, REDCAR and started a record company called Phyllis Records.

She is extremely talented. When you give Brittany Kusserow a guitar she blows you away with her music and the words she put on music. She sings about everyday life but also about more serious issues like God or the fact she had to move across the earth to be with her now wife. She made a small documentary about it which is posted below.

Like I said this girl is full of talent and her music is deffinitely worth checking out.

What do keyboards, indie/electro, bedroom recorded, crushes on girls, icecream trucks, smoothies, blow up toys and a projector show have in common? Right, Amy Kasio.
Amy Kasio is a queer feminist that believes in equality for all sexualities, genders, sizes, ethnicities, races, and cultures and she likes doing this by making songs about everything and nothing. She often pairs up with Argyle Miss and together they can really put down a show and put together some sweet sounds.

Her Myspace page says:
"Amy Kasio is a queer friendly, equal rights advocate for people of all ethinicity, sexuality, gender (which amounts to more than the traditional female/male roles of our society!), shapes and sizes that will rock your ears with distorted casio and your eyes with visual mini movie creations on projector for your keyboard pleasure!"

She may be not gay (though there are rumours) but she sure is a hottie. Katie Melua recorded a song with Katie (Eva) Cassidy, who died in 1996 from cancer.
The Louis Armstrong song "What a wonderful world" was first recorded in 1967. Now the two girl honour the song with their beautiful voices. The profits from the song go to the British Red Cross.
When Katie is on stage she doesn't have to sing the song alone. Recordings from Cassidy performing the song are projected behind Katie Melua. A duet is a duet.

I thought I’d Go French for this V-day. Yup she’s French, she’s funny, she has a loop pedal and I love her. She's Anaïs and she is big in France.
Why this song you ask? Well it’s all valentine’s day and stuff and it’s not particularly the most pleasant day for singles, seeing all these couples being all sticked to each other. And that's what this song is about.
Definitely someone to check out. The way she has the music in her head, that's how she wil play it.

Again, artists with their heart on the right place. Tom Helsen and Geike Arnaert recorded the song Home for the project Music for Life, last year. Music for Life is a yearly project in which a national Belgian radio Studio Brussel and Red Cross Flanders cooperate to raise money. In 2008 the Music for Live focussed on waterproblems in developing countries. Sortlike project were started troughout the rest of Europe. Belgium raised 3.5 million Euros.

Imogen Heap and Twestival

Today Imogen Heap takes part in a worldwide charity event where 175+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.

Hundreds of artists have donated tracks to Twestival. fm - a global online music project in association with Twestival aiming to raise an additional $20,000 USD for charity.
All donated tracks are available to stream and download for free via the Twestival. fm player (powered by SoundCloud).
and visitors are asked to leave a voluntary donation or ‘tip’ (using Tipjoy) in a Radiohead-style ‘pay what you want’ manner.
All tips will be given in full to charity: water and the most generous tippers are listed on the site.

Imogen has decided to buck the trend and dontate the raw vocals parts to 'the song that never was' - a song she wrote for a television program, which for one reason or another was not used in the end. Immi wants you to download the parts and add your own musical interpretation.
You can then upload your mix to her SoundCloud Dropbox and put the best efforts up for everyone to listen to and enjoy.

Brazillian What?

Formed in November of 2006, in the city of Sao Paulo - Brazil, Hellcats is a band that's not afraid of some serious rockin'. They have a strong performance and know how to connect with the audience. They play covers from Britney Spears to Guano Apes but also songs of their own. They recorded a demo CD with five of their own songs and it sure doesn't sound bad. Melodic sounds, strong guitar play, not over the top vocals...

The band, consisting of Thais Vega (Lead singer - ex- Crucified), Beto di Santi (guitar), Bárbara 'BaH' Lamego (guitar), Ana Mena (bass) and Guido Nietmann (drums), already had several gigs in the Sao Paulo area which one of them was a weekly gig in a local club.

They're worth checking out!
